World Animal Day
World Animal Day!
We came to school today dressed as an animal and brought a £1 donation to raise the status of animals in order to improve the welfare standards and lives of animals around the world. We had some fantastic costumes in Woodpeckers!
The children received a letter from 'Joe' the animal keeper who had lost his special animal egg. The children became animal keepers and went outside to find this mysterious egg. They were super keepers and found this strange egg in our school allotment beds. The children were all trying to guess what animal could be inside. We will have to wait and see until it hatches!
We took part in our daily 'wake and shake' with an animal theme. We also took part in animal tracking outside where we identified the animal footprints we found. We used a tally to mark off when we saw certain footprints. We then totalled them up and answered questions about them comparing the different number of footprints.
We also did activities to help us learn more about animals, animals that are endangered and becoming extinct and how we can help and protect the animals on our planet and reduce pollution in the sea.
We have had a great day!
