RSE (Relationships and Sex Education)
As part of the PSHE curriculum our children take part in a progressive curriculum of Relationships and Health Education. As you may already be aware, the Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education following nationwide consultation. These changes will come into effect from September 2020 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements. Due to COVID 19 schools have been able to delay this until the summer term 2021. The statutory guidance can be found at:
As a result of this change we have reviewed our PSHE and RSE policies to specifically meet the needs of our children.
At Killamarsh Infant and Nursery School RSE is fully integrated into our PSHE teaching through a scheme of work called 'Jigsaw PSHE'. Some objectives of RSE overlap and can be seen in many units to ensure they are revisited and presented in various ways and through different themes throughout the years. We also celebrate RSE day in June every year.
Look at the following documents for more information of how RSE works in our school.
