Science - Materials
We have been learning all materials in science this half term. We have been classifying different materials, hunting materials and talking about the properties of different materials. We have learnt new words to describe the properties such as rigid and flexible. We have loved comparing the properties of 4 different materials (string, metal plastic and play dough) and investigated how they can be manipulated by squashing, bending, twisting and squeezing.
Finally we researched about what makes a material waterproof and learnt all about the scientist Charles Macintosh who invented a way to make materials waterproof. We then carried out a comparative test of different materials - we made predictions and then tested the materials after discussing how to ensure that it was a fair test.
