Our Farm Trip
At the beginning of the term we were lucky enough to be invited to New Hall Farm in Ardsley in Barnsley.
We travelled to Barnsley on a coach and were met at the top of the farm lane by Farmer Helen. We were then lucky enough to get on a trailer to take us down to the farm. On the way we stopped off to get busy in the fields.
In the first field we dug up some plants and closely observed the structure including the roots and stem.
Next we were searching for worms …
When we arrived at the farm after our busy field work we saw the animals in the fields and discovered what the sheep eat.
In the barn we looked different kinds of grain, milled the wheat and sifted the flour. We finally tasted the yummy bread.
