Year 2 - If we can grow our own food, why do people in the world go hungry?

This year, for British Science week, the year 2 children were asked to research the sustainability goal of 'Zero Hunger'. The children had to research where food comes from and how food is transported from farm to fork. They also designed their own garden to help reduce the environmental impact of global farming. They learnt about how their food is prepared and new farming methods such as 'vertical farming' and how this can reduce environmental damage. The photos below show the children making model vertical farms and seeing how many more plants can be grown in a smaller area.
