The Human Heart

So another busy week in science club this week.  After looking at various organs last week we decided we would like to focus on the heart this week.  We listened to our heart beats and discovered that our heart beat sounds like 'crackly popcorn'!! Also did you know that your heart is approximately the same size as your fist?  We then compared the speed of a child's heart beat to the speed of an adults heartbeat and we noticed that the heart of an adult beats much slower and more quietly.

We then looked at the model of the soft body parts.  We looked at each area and investigated where about on our bodies the organs actually are.  We felt our rib cage and talked about how the ribs help to protect our heart and lungs.  We then pulled out the intestines to look at how long they are when you spread them out... wow!!!  Do you know the length of the average small and large intestines?
