Christmas Trip to Chesterfield
As part of our Great Outdoors topic this half term the Year 1 children in the Goldfinch class visited the local town of Chesterfield to look at how a town prepares for Christmas. We started our day with a walk around the town looking for the decorations. We noticed lots of illuminations in the streets and the shops were all decorated with Christmas gifts and Christmas scenes. In the centre of town was a huge Christmas tree decorated with lights and baubles. We then made Christmas angels to take home and put on our own trees. After lunch we walked across to the Crooked Spire to listen to the Christmas story. Finally we finished our day with a lovely singing session where we sang lots of lovely Christmas songs.
