Chinese New Year

We really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year in nursery...in the home corner we had a Chinese banquet, at the funky fingers area we used chopsticks, at the playdough table we had sensory play using red and gold colours, and at the workshop we made Chinese lanterns!

We learned that to prepare for Chinese New Year people clean the house to remove the bad things from their homes, they wear red and hang red decorations to bring good luck, they give red envelopes with money in to bring good luck and happiness, and they have dancing dragons at parades to symbolise wisdom, power and wealth!
