Bird Watch - Binoculars

Bird Watch

In preparation for the Big Garden Birdwatch we looked at a book all about birds and talked about the species of birds we may see on our school field. Then we decided we needed some binoculars to help us see the birds. We made them by rolling paper into tubes and sticking them together. It was tricky to keep the paper rolled and stick it. The children worked well together to make their binoculars. Once they were made, they decorated them with coloured paper and crayons.

Shape Activity Session

World Religion Day

World Religion Day

We celebrated World Religion Day by finding out about 3 different religions. We also visited the local church. We had to find different items in the church. Back in school we talked about what we had seen. We also found out about Christianity, Islam and Judaism. We talked about their places of worship and the symbols they used.

Maths - Addition

Shape Activity Session

In this weeks session, we played a variety of team games. We had to work together and also on our own. First we had to throw the beanbag into a hoop. We talked about aim and which kind of throw we needed. Then we worked as a team to collect the most beanbags. We had to take it in turns to go and collect them. Finally we had to get rid of our beanbags by giving them to another team. We had lots of fun and used lots of different skills.

Safer Internet Day

On safer internet day we discussed the use of AI and how we use a voice activated device. The children knew all about using Alexa/Google/Siri. We looked at different scenarios and said if it was safe or not. We used our thumbs to say yes or no. We also looked at what a voice device can do and what humans can do. The children were very knowledgeable about what we can do to keep safe when using the internet.

Children's Mental Health Week

To celebrate children's mental health week we used an assembly to discuss this years theme, belonging. Then we completed a range of activities throughout the week. First we had a circle time, where we talked about our interests. This also linked to this terms SMILERS letter. The children then created a tile to show what interests they have. The tiles were put together to form a mosaic. The children also joined in with a yoga session. Finally they created their own map to show their place. This showed what they enjoy doing in all aspects of their life.
