As part of our maths this year we have celebrated number day. We did maths acticties all day and really loved having the chance to practise our number skills. We came to school in clothes that had numbers on them instead of our school uniform. The best part of the day ... investigating the most popular jelly bean flavour, making a pictogram and then getting to eat the jelly beans afterwards.
We love reading here at KINS and so share the joy of reading across our school we joined in with a winter booknik. We all came dressed super cosy in our jim jams and shared a gorgeous winter story while enjoying hot chocolate and marshmallows! Yum yum!
As part of our animals including humans science topic this half term we have learnt about our bodies. We've talked about what characteristics make humans mammals and also about what we need to do to stay healthy.
We then investigated the effects of exercise on our bodies by thinking about our pulse rates and how sweaty we got. We compared different exercises, predicting which one would make our hearts beat the fastest and then analysing our results.
Designing and making our very own moving picture book this half-term has been so much fun. We have learnt all about sliders and flaps and loved being able to make our own books.
This year we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. We spent time outside in our outdoor area counting all the different birds we saw. We used a bird fact file to help us identify the different birds and made our own binoculars to help us find the birds when we were outside.
As part of World Religion day this year we were lucky enough to be able to visit our local church - St Giles Parish Church. While we were visiting we learnt about different parts of the church such as the altar and the font. We also found out that the pictures that are dipicted in the stain glass windows are from stories that are in the Holy Bible.
